Building Capacity for Reflective Leadership and Adult Resilience

Facilitated by

Mary Mackrain, IMH-E (IV), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Mental Health Services to Children and Families

Overview:

Due to the complex changes and challenges occurring during this pandemic and the ongoing plight of racial injustice happening nationally, service providers may need additional opportunity from leadership for processing and sharing their current experiences. This takes capacity for leaders to engage in reflective practice with staff and to support their internal protective factors that offset risk and promote resilience. This 4-Part Leadership Series for Early On Coordinators will provide a foundational overview of:

  • what reflective practice and adult resilience is,
  • how reflective practice and support for growth of adult protective factors can help to reduce stress and empower staff to act over what is in their control,
  • how to nurture this reflective practice in leadership and
  • how to measure its effectiveness.

Who should attend:

Early On Coordinators who want foundational information on reflective leadership and adult resilience. Each module will provide an opportunity for participant dialogue, reflection, and coaching.

  • Part I: Defining reflective supervision and adult resilience and addressing working assumptions (60 minutes)
  • Part II: Techniques and tools for implementing quality reflective supervision (60 minutes)
  • Part III: Techniques and tools for implementing adult resilience strategies (60 minutes)
  • Part IV: Measuring quality and using data to improve impact of reflective supervision and adult resilience strategies (45 minutes)
